GP in Leiden: insurance and billing explained
How billing works at HeyDoc in Leiden for Dutch basic insurance, Aon Student Insurance and other international policies. Check coverage with your insurer.
HeyDoc is a Dutch GP practice. Coverage and reimbursement always depend on your policy and the national rules, we summarise common patterns below, but your insurer has the final say.
What we routinely work with

See also our page for the student doctor in Leiden. | | Other international / expat insurers | Contact us before registration with your policy number; we check whether direct billing or pay-and-claim applies. | | EHIC | You can be seen, not just for emergencies: you pay the consultation up front via a payment link (iDEAL, Dutch bank or credit card, including Amex) and claim it back from your insurer at home. Send us a copy of your EHIC. | | No insurance (yet) | You are seen as a passing-by patient and pay the NZa passing-by tariff per consultation; once BSN and insurance are arranged we convert your file to a regular registration. |
Eigen risico (deductible), short note
The Dutch eigen risico is an annual amount that applies to much specialist care and many medicines; standard GP consultations under the basic package follow the usual national rules (see Rijksoverheid / your insurer). This article is not tax or insurance advice.
Travel vaccinations and extras
Travel vaccines and some non-insured assessments may carry a separate fee or rely on aanvullende verzekering, we tell you before something is booked if a patient contribution applies.
